Nurhachi's Sword Tairoi.
The first part of my vast series of armor and weapons I've designed since my last submission. This is supposed to be the same sword as [link] but I didn't think it would be smart remove the old one, since this one is such a radically different redesign, that it's nearly its own sword.
Being disgruntled with the last one, I practically scrapped it and tried again. I went more traditional European in the blade with a fuller (or the misnomer 'blood groove'), but still tried make a straight sword katana fast.
To get this speed I decided to go directly with the length dimensions of a katana, I was fortunate that a friend of mine got a katana (probably not combat worthy) for Christmas (2009). With the measurements, I then lengthened the handle and shortened the blade till the matched the length of a katana's handle and blade.
I decided to let it keep the sweet Hamon on the edges, but this time they look more natural like the mud was hand brushed
Again. I would be a fool to suggest that I'm done with the sword for good, but then again, I am very satisfied with this design.

Huh. Interesting design. Blade's a little short for the hilt if you were to go by traditional european measurements (the tip would usually be longer and taper off less drastically, I guess - would give it more stability for poking things in the upper third), but it looks good nonetheless.
